Sony clearly listened to feedback from XM5 users who complained about call quality, because they went all-in on the microphone system this time. You've got dual beamforming mics that focus on your mouth, a bone conduction sensor that picks up your voice through your skull (sounds weird, works great), and AI processing that was trained on 500 million voice samples. That's a lot of engineering just to make you sound good on calls.

In a quiet home office, your voice comes through crystal clear. People will hear you just fine. But here's where it gets impressive—even in a noisy coffee shop, the AI does a solid job filtering out background chatter and espresso machine sounds. Your voice might sound slightly "processed" in really noisy environments, but it stays intelligible.

One heads-up for Mac users: When you're on a call, Bluetooth switches to a lower-quality audio profile to handle the microphone. This can occasionally cause audio to drop or the connection to get a bit wonky. If you run into this, you can always use the earbuds just for listening and your Mac's built-in mic for talking.
