TLDR Review: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is a compelling choice if you crave an ultra-versatile phone with a gorgeously large foldable display and powerful multitasking capabilities, packed with a standout 200MP camera and long battery life. However, if faster charging, superior speakers, or seamless Apple ecosystem compatibility are deal-breakers for you, it’s worth exploring alternatives or closely considering your ecosystem needs before buying. Overall, it remains one of the best foldables on the market, especially for productivity and creative users who want a portable tablet experience on the go.
- Top pro:
- The Galaxy Z Fold7’s cover screen feels narrow initially but quickly becomes comfortable, matching the size of other large phones for everyday apps.
- Top con:
- Charging is relatively slow, taking about 2.5 hours to fully charge with the phone’s 25W maximum charger; faster charging options are unavailable.
Pros
- •The Galaxy Z Fold7’s cover screen feels narrow initially but quickly becomes comfortable, matching the size of other large phones for everyday apps.
- •The massive 8" unfolded internal display is immersive and ideal for multitasking, allowing up to three apps to run simultaneously with smooth split-screen functionality.
- •Multitasking is seamless, with most apps optimized for the large screen; plus, “slim mode” lets you adjust app aspect ratios for better usability.
- •The under-display camera is cleverly hidden behind a black bar in apps, minimizing distractions when viewing content.
- •Compatible with capacitive S Pens (with increased touch sensitivity settings), even when tempered glass protectors are applied, though it lacks a built-in S Pen slot.
- •Long-lasting battery life comfortably supports a full day of mixed use—around 10 hours on the cover screen and 7–8 hours with combined use, though heavy gaming reduces this to 5–6 hours.
- •The 200MP rear camera delivers excellent, vivid, and sharp photos great for most users, with handy AI photo editing features like background removal and "Best Face."
- •Slimmer, lighter, and more comfortable to hold than previous foldable models, offering a practical blend of portability with the luxury of a large unfolded display.
- •Supports Bluetooth keyboards, enhancing productivity for users who want to work efficiently on the go.
- •Fast and smooth performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, ensuring no lag during multitasking or intensive apps.
Cons
- •Charging is relatively slow, taking about 2.5 hours to fully charge with the phone’s 25W maximum charger; faster charging options are unavailable.
- •Speaker quality is underwhelming compared to competitors like the iPhone 16 Pro, though this may only matter for audiophiles.
- •The visible screen crease remains noticeable under certain lighting conditions, but it’s less obtrusive than prior models and does not hinder general use.
- •Returning from iPhone to Android can require an adjustment period, and the lack of native integration with Mac iMessage is a significant inconvenience, requiring third-party software workarounds.
- •Warranty is region-limited: it cannot be registered in Saudi Arabia and is only supported by Samsung UAE, a critical consideration for buyers outside the US.
