The Bosch GLM165-25G laser measure can handle distances up to 165 feet, which should cover most of what you'd need for routine measuring tasks. A neat perk is that this model uses a green laser, which stands out better than the usual red beam, particularly when you're outside in the daylight.
That said, really bright sunlight might make the beam hard to spot, especially when you're near that 165-foot mark. So, it might help to plan your measurements at times when the sun isn't blazing or to find some shade if you can.
The device has a backlit color display, too, which means you shouldn't have any trouble reading it under varying lighting conditions. According to our research, folks generally find it pretty reliable outdoors, with a design robust enough to deal with regular jobsite wear and tear.
If you're often working outside, setting up in the shade or even popping the measure onto a tripod could lead to better accuracy, especially for those longer distances.
Depending on how you typically work, you might want to think about whether additional enhancements—like stronger laser beams—could make your measuring tasks even easier.
