Yes, the Sony WH-1000XM6 supports multipoint Bluetooth connection, allowing you to stay connected to two devices simultaneously.
How Multipoint Works
This feature is enabled by default. With multipoint active:
- Listen to music on your laptop while remaining ready for phone calls
- Audio automatically switches when a call comes in
- Hang up and your music resumes—no manual reconnection needed
The headphones remember up to 8 paired devices, though only 2 can be actively connected at once.
The Audio Quality Trade-off
Important: When multipoint is enabled, LDAC (Sony's high-resolution codec) is disabled. Both connections use AAC or SBC instead.
For everyday listening, most users won't notice. For critical listening sessions where maximum audio quality matters, disable multipoint to access LDAC.
Managing This Feature
Open the Sony Sound Connect app → System tab → toggle "Connect to 2 devices simultaneously."
Practical Use Cases
The WH-1000XM6's multipoint is ideal for:
- Work-from-home setups (computer + phone)
- Switching between tablet and phone
- Anyone who uses multiple devices daily
Bottom line: Multipoint makes the XM6 significantly more convenient for multi-device users, with only a minor audio quality compromise that most listeners won't notice.
