Yes, the Sony WH-1000XM6 supports multipoint Bluetooth, allowing simultaneous connection to two devices.
Setup Instructions
- Install the Sony Sound Connect app (iOS or Android)
- Pair the XM6 with both devices separately
- Open Sony Sound Connect → Device Settings → System
- Enable Connect to 2 devices simultaneously
- Connect both devices via Bluetooth settings
How Multipoint Works
Once enabled, the headphones handle device switching automatically:
- Music on laptop, call on phone: Music pauses, call audio routes through headphones
- Call ends: Music resumes automatically
- Switch music sources: Pause on one device, play on another - headphones follow the active audio
This is particularly useful for work-from-home setups where you want to keep music playing while staying available for phone calls.
Audio Quality Trade-Off
LDAC is disabled when using multipoint. Both connections use AAC or SBC instead. For most listeners, this difference is minimal and the convenience outweighs any quality reduction.
For critical listening sessions where LDAC matters, temporarily disable multipoint in the Sony Sound Connect app.
Third Device Behavior
Connecting a third device will:
- Maintain connection with the last device that played audio
- Disconnect the other paired device
- Connect to the new device
