Adaptive Sound Control on the Sony WH-1000XM6 automatically adjusts noise cancellation based on your activity and environment.
Activity-Based Adjustment
The headphones detect what you're doing and respond:
| Activity | ANC Setting | |----------|-------------| | Sitting/stationary | Full ANC | | Walking | Ambient sound on | | Running | Safety-optimized ambient | | Traveling | Transport-optimized ANC |
The system also learns location patterns and applies preferred settings at familiar places.
Adaptive NC Optimizer
This real-time feature continuously fine-tunes noise cancellation:
- Air pressure: Adjusts automatically during flights
- Glasses/hat: Compensates for seal interference
- Fit changes: Adapts if headphones shift
- Environment: Responds to noise level changes
Powered by Sony's HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3 (7x faster than XM5) and 12 microphones.
Setup
In the Sony Sound Connect app:
