Samsung guarantees seven years of Android OS upgrades and security updates for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, matching Google Pixel devices for the longest Android support available.
What you get:
- Seven major Android versions (Android 15 through Android 22)
- Monthly security patches for at least four years
- Quarterly security updates thereafter through 2032
- Continued Galaxy AI feature improvements
The phone launched with Android 15 and One UI 7.0 in February 2025. Support ends in 2032, making it a genuinely long-term investment.
Why this matters:
Samsung's commitment eliminates one of iPhone's historical advantages. Previously, Android phones often received only 2-3 years of updates. Now the Galaxy S25 Ultra matches iPhone for software longevity.
Practical benefits:
- Apps remain compatible as you'll always have current Android
- Better resale value due to longer support window
- Safe to hand down to family members
- Protection against security vulnerabilities throughout ownership
For a ,299+ purchase, knowing your phone will remain secure and fully functional for seven years significantly improves the value proposition. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is now on equal footing with iPhone for software support, eliminating one of Apple's last major advantages.
