TLDR Review: Dyson Ball Animal 3 Vacuum
Verdict
The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum is a powerhouse for tackling pet hair and deep dirt thanks to its exceptional suction and smart de-tangling technology, making it a top pick for pet owners who want serious cleaning muscle. However, this corded giant is a bit of a beast itself—heavy, somewhat clunky, and plagued by design flaws like a difficult hose and cheap-feeling plastic that might frustrate more than a few users. If you want raw power and a solid warranty and don’t mind the heft and cord, this vacuum delivers. But if you prioritize maneuverability and premium build feel, you might want to explore cordless or lighter models for greater ease of use.
- Top pro:
- Exceptional and powerful suction that outperforms many cordless models, making it a beast against dirt and old carpet residues.
- Top con:
- The vacuum is noticeably heavy (about 17 lbs), making it difficult to maneuver for some users, especially over large areas or stairs.
Pros
- •Exceptional and powerful suction that outperforms many cordless models, making it a beast against dirt and old carpet residues.
- •Advanced hair de-tangling Motorbar™ cleaner head effectively prevents brush bar tangling, perfect for pet hair cleanup.
- •Rubber brush rollers and strong suction excel on multiple surfaces including carpets, hardwood floors, area rugs, and especially pet hair.
- •The generous 50-foot total reach allows extensive cleaning without switching outlets frequently.
- •Comes with a reassuring 5-year warranty and lifetime Dyson support, which adds great long-term value.
- •Three versatile cleaning modes offer customizable performance for different floor types and needs.

Cons
- •The vacuum is noticeably heavy (about 17 lbs), making it difficult to maneuver for some users, especially over large areas or stairs.
- •Majority of the vacuum feels made of cheap plastic with poor build quality compared to expected Dyson standards.
- •Hose design is problematic—stiff, retracts on its own, and is tricky to keep fully extended during use, limiting practical usability.
- •Vacuum head can detach unexpectedly if not properly secured, and assembly instructions lack clarity.
- •The wand attachment is overly long and cumbersome, sometimes causing bending and damage to the hose.
- •Difficulties emptying the dust bin completely without dust escape, making the process somewhat messy.
- •Vacuum struggles to stand upright when turned off, complicating storage and transport.
- •Some report the vacuum feels overpriced relative to build quality and design flaws.
- •Repairs and replacement parts are costly post-warranty and somewhat frequent for heavy users.
- •No onboard light feature, which can make cleaning in dark corners less effective.
