TLDR Review: Dunlop Plastic Thumbpicks Large
Verdict
The JIM DUNLOP 9023R Shell Plastic Thumbpicks are a solid choice for guitarists seeking a durable and responsive thumbpick. With their warm tonal qualities and enhanced control, they cater to various playing styles. However, if you are transitioning from fingerpicking or smaller picks, be prepared for a short adaptation period. Overall, these thumbpicks offer excellent value and performance for committed musicians.
- Top pro:
- Provides a warm tonal response suitable for various stringed instruments.
- Top con:
- Some players may find the large size uncomfortable, depending on finger size and playing style.
Score
The JIM DUNLOP 9023R Shell Plastic Thumbpicks receive a moderate score primarily due to their affordability and sound quality, which many users appreciate. However, frequent complaints about inconsistent sizing—particularly that the "large" picks often fit like mediums—and rapid wear of the material have left numerous customers dissatisfied. These picks might be a good option for those who value budget over longevity, but fit and durability could be dealbreakers for others.
