The Onkyo TX-RZ50 9.2-Channel AV Receiver has some solid HDMI features that could tick a lot of boxes if you're into high-quality video and audio. It comes with HDMI 2.1 compatibility, which means you'll get to enjoy 8K video, variable refresh rates (VRR), and quick frame transport (QFT). These are especially great if you're into gaming or if you watch a lot of fast-paced movies since they help with smoother video and lower latency.
Another cool thing is its advanced video processing. It handles 4K at 120Hz and 8K at 60Hz, so you should have a great viewing experience. Plus, HDMI eARC lets you get high-definition audio from your TV to the receiver, which really boosts the sound quality of whatever you're watching or listening to.
There is one downside if you're picky about your bass: the TX-RZ50 doesn’t have separate subwoofer outputs. So, if you like to tweak each subwoofer individually to get that perfect sound, this might not fully meet your needs. Our research shows some have pointed this out, especially those who want a super customized sound setup.
It does let you connect two subs, but it's more of a combined, mono output.
Also worth noting, it's THX Certified and has this room correction tech called DIRAC Live, which should enhance your audio experience overall.
So, if you need independent control over your subs, maybe check out other options or think about additional gear. But for many folks, the sweet HDMI features and solid audio quality of the TX-RZ50 make it a great pick.
