Hey! The Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Mini U-Lock is pretty sturdy and compact. According to the manufacturer's description, it's got an 18mm hardened steel shackle, which holds up well against common theft tools like bolt cutters—but even though it's really strong, tools like angle grinders can still be challenging for it.
Still, our research suggests it's one of the toughest portable locks you can find.
For the dimensions, it's specifically designed to be compact, which is great for fitting in tight spots on your bike. It weighs about 4.6 pounds, so it’s a bit on the heavier side. Some folks think that's a downside, especially if you need to carry it around a lot.
Its size is both a pro and a con. It's snug and great for small spaces, but it might not easily secure both the frame and wheel if your bike has a large or thick frame. Plus, it doesn’t come with a mounting bracket, which some people find inconvenient.
Despite some quirks, its security rating is top-notch. It's highly recommended for high-risk spots like cities or college campuses. According to some professional opinions and our research, pairing it with an extra lock or cable could beef up security, especially if your bike is parked for extended periods.
In summary, even though it's a bit heavy and may have some size limitations, it's a great pick if your main concern is security, particularly in urban areas. Balancing weight and the peace of mind it offers can be a good trade-off if security’s your main focus.
