The Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Mini U-Lock is a solid pick for keeping your bike safe, especially against common forms of theft.

It's built with an 18mm hardened steel shackle that's tough against most hand tools and bolt cutters, which is what the manufacturer's product description says. Just keep in mind that, like almost any lock, it's not completely impervious to angle grinders—those portable power tools are pretty advanced these days.

It's got a mini size and uses a double deadbolt design, which makes those prying attacks a bit more difficult because there's less space for leverage. On the flip side, carrying it around can be a bit of a hassle since it weighs 4.55 pounds.

It's not the lightest thing if you're trying to keep your commute light, and you'll need to think about how to carry it since it doesn't come with a mount.

As for using it, the manufacturer throws in three keys—one's got a handy LED for those late-night lock and unlock sessions. Even with its weight, it’s a popular choice for cyclists focused on security.

But, heads up, if you've got a larger bike or an e-bike with a thicker frame, using this compact lock might be tricky to secure both the frame and a wheel.

If you're riding something funky or oversized, pairing this lock with a chain lock might be your best bet. That way, you can make the most of its sturdiness while making sure every part of your bike is locked up tight.

All in all, if security is your top concern, this lock is a solid choice. But you'll want to think through how to use it effectively to get the best protection.
