The battery life of the Havahart 5277 Critter Ridder can vary quite a bit depending on how often it's activated and the sensitivity setting you're using. Generally, the batteries can last anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks with regular use, but if the device is triggering a lot, you might find yourself changing them every 10 days or so.
The device has different sensitivity settings, which let you customize how it responds to different types and sizes of animals. This customization is great for targeting specific critters, but keep in mind that higher sensitivity settings or frequent activations will drain the batteries faster. So, tweaking these settings according to the usual activity in your area can help make the batteries last longer.
As a heads-up, there have been some mentions of the device's build quality in our research. A few folks noted that parts can leak if they're not properly secured, which might also cause the batteries to drain quicker. Making sure everything is tightly in place can help prevent these issues.
Although battery life might be a consideration, keeping an eye on your settings and maintaining the device can really extend how long it operates without a hitch. If swapping out batteries sounds like a hassle, using high-quality or even rechargeable ones could be a good move.
