What's Actually New

Let me be honest about what the S26 Ultra adds:

Privacy Display - This is the main thing. You can make your screen invisible to people looking over your shoulder. It's cool, but it's a "nice to have" not a "must have" for most people.

Better low-light camera - The main camera lets in 47% more light. If you're constantly taking photos in dark bars or at concerts, you'll notice the difference. Otherwise? The S25 Ultra already takes great night photos.

Faster processor - About 19% faster. Unless you're editing 8K video on your phone or running AI models, you won't notice.

Faster charging - 60W instead of 45W. Gets you to 75% in about 30 minutes. Nice, but not life-changing.

What's Worse (Yes, Worse)

Aluminum instead of titanium - The S25 Ultra had a titanium frame. The S26 Ultra went back to aluminum. It's softer and scratches more easily. Feels like a downgrade.

Some display complaints - There are people saying the screen quality isn't quite as good as the S25 Ultra, even with Privacy Display turned off. Something to check if you go to a store.

S Pen changes - Small thing, but you can't put the S Pen in the slot backward anymore. The shape changed.

The Money Math

• Trade-in for S25 Ultra: $900 (during launch)

Upgrade if:

• Privacy Display solves a real problem you have
• You photograph in low light constantly
• You want maximum trade-in value before it drops

Skip if:

• Your S25 Ultra is fine
• You're not sold on Privacy Display
• You'd rather wait for the S27 Ultra

The S25 Ultra isn't going anywhere. Samsung's supporting it until 2031. It's still one of the best phones you can buy. Unless you have a specific reason to upgrade, your money is probably better saved for the next big leap.
