The iPhone 17 Pro Max delivers the best battery life Apple has ever achieved in an iPhone. You can expect it to last all day and then some.
Real-World Battery Performance
Based on extensive testing, here's what you can expect:
- Gaming: Around 12 hours of continuous play
- Web browsing: About 15.5 hours of active use
- Video playback: Up to 25.5 hours (local files) or 39 hours (Apple's official eSIM rating)
- Typical daily use: 13-14 hours of screen-on time with mixed activities
Why the Battery Life Is So Impressive
Three factors combine to deliver this outstanding endurance:
- Larger battery: The 5,088 mAh cell (on eSIM models) provides significantly more capacity than previous iPhones
- Efficient A19 Pro chip: Built on an advanced 3nm process for excellent power management
- iOS 26 optimization: Smart adaptive power management extends battery life
How It Stacks Up Against Competitors
The iPhone 17 Pro Max beats the competition in battery tests:
- Outlasts the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra by approximately 3.5 hours
- Adds about 20 minutes compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max
- Offers major improvements over iPhone 15 Pro Max, especially if your older battery has degraded
Heavy users can easily get through a full day with battery remaining. Moderate users often find themselves charging only every other day. If all-day battery life matters to you, the iPhone 17 Pro Max delivers.
