Magic Cue is Google's AI assistant that predicts what you need before you ask. Here's what it does and whether it works.

The concept:

You're on the phone with an airline rebooking a flight. Normally, you'd put them on hold and dig through email for your confirmation number. With Magic Cue, a suggestion chip appears in the phone app with your confirmation number already there.

Where it activates:

• During calls: Call a store about an order, it surfaces your order number
• In messages: Friend asks flight arrival time, it suggests the answer
• In Maps: Recommends destinations from calendar or screenshots
• Across apps: Whenever AI has relevant information

Suggestions appear with a subtle Gemini rainbow glow.

Does it work?

Mixed reviews. When it works, it feels like magic. Information appears right when you need it.

When it doesn't, it either misses obvious connections or doesn't activate when expected. Google is improving it through updates, but don't expect perfection yet.
