🌊Can you technically dunk your Galaxy S26 Ultra underwater? Yes. Should you? That's complicated.

The S26 Ultra is IP68 rated, which means it can survive in 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes. Samsung even added "Ocean Mode" that adjusts the camera for underwater shots—compensating for how water affects colors and light.

But here's what Samsung doesn't advertise as loudly: IP68 only applies to fresh water in controlled conditions. Pool water (chlorine), ocean water (salt), and mineral water can damage the seals. And Samsung's warranty doesn't cover water damage at all—even though your phone is "water resistant."

There's also seal degradation to consider. That IP68 rating applies to a brand-new phone that's never been dropped or experienced extreme temperatures. After a year of normal use, those seals aren't as tight as they were on day one.

What should you actually do? Think of IP68 as accident insurance. If your phone falls in a puddle or you drop it in the sink, you're probably fine. But don't go snorkeling with a $1,300 phone.

If you're serious about underwater photography, get a proper waterproof case. They cost $30-50 and are rated for deeper depths and longer durations. Ocean Mode will still work through the case, and your phone stays safe.
