TLDR Review: Zevo Insect Traps
Verdict
The Zevo 2 Flying Insect Trap is a smart, safe, and effective indoor solution for controlling flying insects like gnats, fruit flies, and flies—especially in areas like kitchens and bathrooms. Its non-toxic, mess-free design and dual bases provide convenience and good coverage, though the bright UV light limits where it’s best placed indoors. If you want a chemical-free, low-maintenance trap that visually confirms results and is safe around pets and kids, this is a strong choice. Just be ready to experiment with placement and accept that it’s most effective in darker spaces or overnight. If you’re looking for a less bright option better suited for bedrooms, or prefer a different trapping style, exploring other insect traps might be worthwhile.
- Top pro:
- Highly effective at trapping a variety of flying insects including flies, fruit flies, gnats, and some mosquitoes using blue and UV light technology.
- Top con:
- The blue UV light is quite bright and may be too intense for bedroom use unless the trap is hidden or blocked by furniture, limiting placement options in resting areas.
Pros
- •Highly effective at trapping a variety of flying insects including flies, fruit flies, gnats, and some mosquitoes using blue and UV light technology.
- •Non-toxic, chemical-free, and safe for use around children and pets, making it a family- and pet-friendly option.
- •Mess-free and easy to use with plug-in bases and simple cartridge replacements, eliminating the hassle of traditional bug zappers or sprays.
- •Comes with two bases, allowing greater coverage by placing traps in multiple indoor locations such as kitchens, bathrooms, or areas with plants.
- •Attractive glowing blue light that doubles as a subtle night light in certain spaces, providing added utility.
- •Silent and odorless operation ensures discreet and pleasant pest control.
- •Proven long-term effectiveness, typically reducing insect populations noticeably within about a week or overnight use, especially in darker environments.
- •Sleek and unobtrusive design blends well with home decor, avoiding the eyesore of bulky bug traps.
- •Visible trapping results provide satisfying evidence that it’s working by showing the number of insects caught on sticky cartridges.
- •Effective even against small gnats and tiny flying pests that often bypass other barriers like window screens.
Cons
- •The blue UV light is quite bright and may be too intense for bedroom use unless the trap is hidden or blocked by furniture, limiting placement options in resting areas.
- •Works best in darker rooms or at night; less effective during daylight hours as insects prefer natural light and avoid the traps then.
- •Requires some trial and error with positioning for optimal insect capture, so placement can be a bit of a guessing game initially.
- •The trapping method uses glue, which can be slow to immobilize insects and may be unappealing to some users who dislike the thought of bugs stuck alive, even though it is cleaner than zapping.
- •While effective, no flying insect trap is 100% foolproof - some insects may evade capture despite consistent use.
- •The product could improve by offering compostable or more eco-friendly refill cartridges to reduce environmental impact.
