TLDR Review: WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB SSD
Verdict
The WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB NVMe SSD is a blazing-fast, gamer-centric storage solution that lives up to its promise of cutting-edge speed, temperature control, and seamless integration — especially for PS5 users and high-performance PC gamers. If you want to crush loading times and maintain steady gameplay with advanced tech features like Game Mode 2.0 and DirectStorage, this drive is a top contender worth the premium price. However, if budget is tight or you don’t need the absolute fastest Gen4 speeds, you might want to keep an eye out for deals on slightly more affordable options with decent performance.
- Top pro:
- Extremely fast read and write speeds up to 7,300 MB/s dramatically reduce game loading times and improve PC boot times.
- Top con:
- The heatsink is optional on the 1TB and 2TB versions, so users might need to purchase it separately if sustained cooling is a priority.
