TLDR Review: Ugly Stik Walleye Combo 7'6"
Verdict
The Ugly Stik USCAWAL762ML/RNDCBO Walleye Round Combo delivers excellent rod performance and high sensitivity tailored for serious walleye anglers, especially those who enjoy trolling. While the reel isn't premium quality and may require some brake adjustments, the overall value and effectiveness of this combo outperform many costlier options. If you prioritize straightforward usability over a bit of tweaking, or want an even simpler setup, you might want to explore other brands, but for dedicated walleye fishing, this one’s a solid choice.

Pros
- •Excellent rod action with significant flex that enhances casting and fighting ability, delivering the quality you've come to expect from Ugly Stik.
- •Outperforms many higher-priced reels when the magnetic brake is properly adjusted, providing smooth and quick retrieval, even with heavy 20# braid holding over 600 feet of line.
- •Ideal for trolling, especially with Dipsey Divers or kayak fishing, offering noticeable rod tip arch and good fish detection thanks to a loud, helpful clicker and sensitive drag.
- •Sensitive enough to feel big bites, such as a 24" walleye, enhancing your connection to the fish.
- •Lightweight design makes it easy to handle for extended trolling or bank fishing sessions.
- •The rod length of 7'6" suits a variety of fishing styles, including bank fishing and quiet, precise lure placement with light bait.
- •Comfortable, easy-grip handles add to overall user experience.
- •The line counter reel, while simple, is functional and reliable enough for trolling purposes.
- •Designed specifically for walleye fishing, making it a targeted choice for anglers focused on that species.
Cons
- •The combo may feel too complicated for fishermen who prefer simplicity; some users suggest choosing a different brand for easier use.
- •The reel quality doesn't quite match the solid feel of the rod, coming off as somewhat cheap or less durable in comparison.
- •The line counter on the reel is not always fully accurate, which may frustrate users relying heavily on precise line measurement.
- •Factory brake settings can vary, sometimes requiring fiddling with the brake to reduce line release tension and avoid bird nests.
