TLDR Review: Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 Goggles
Verdict
The Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 Optical Swim Goggles in Smoke (-3) offer a well-balanced blend of competitive-level fit, clear corrective vision, and style, making them a strong choice for swimmers who require prescription lenses. The main caution is around the rubber components’ durability—if you’re a heavy daily user, consider this when deciding or plan on eventual replacements. For those seeking a more rugged alternative or easier nose piece swaps, exploring other Speedo models might be worthwhile, but for reliable vision correction with a secure fit, this remains a top pick.
- Top pro:
- Designed specifically for competitive swimmers with vision correction needs, offering clear and effective underwater vision.
- Top con:
- Rubber material quality has been a problem for some, ripping within two months, raising durability concerns.
Pros
- •Designed specifically for competitive swimmers with vision correction needs, offering clear and effective underwater vision.
- •Comfortable fit that stays securely in place during swimming and races, even with diving and thin straps.
- •Corrective lenses significantly improve vision clarity, often better than multifocal glasses for swimming.
- •Goggles maintain a watertight seal with minimal leaking, outperforming many other brands in keeping water out.
- •Stylish smoke tint and sleek design appeal to users wanting both function and looks.
- •Durable enough to last about a year with daily swimming, with rubber parts showing normal wear over time.
- •Comfortable inner eye fit, accommodating even facial piercings without compromising the seal.
- •Lenses remain clear initially and provide good optical quality without tint—ideal for indoor swimming.
- •Comes with properly sized bridge (nose) pieces that usually don’t require swapping, simplifying fit.
Cons
- •Rubber material quality has been a problem for some, ripping within two months, raising durability concerns.
- •After heavy use over six months, lenses may fog more easily and require antifog spray, common but noteworthy.
- •Nose piece is difficult to change and swapping it can cause the goggles to pop apart, so better to keep the original.
- •Some users noted slight reduction in lens strength compared to their regular glasses, which may affect reading underwater.
- •Despite mostly secure fit, some report occasional minor leaks that need adjustment.
