TLDR Review: Sony LinkBuds Fit Earbuds
Verdict
If you’re looking for lightweight, super comfortable earbuds with a secure fit for workouts or daily commutes, the Sony LinkBuds Fit deliver solid sound quality, effective noise cancellation, and handy app controls that enhance your audio experience. However, if you want powerful ANC for complete noise blocking or a more customizable fit with bigger ear fins, you might want to consider other options. Overall, these earbuds excel at blending comfort, audio clarity, and usability for active lifestyles, but they won’t satisfy those craving top-tier noise isolation or all-day battery endurance.
- Top pro:
- The unique hollow rubber horn design offers an exceptionally comfortable and secure fit, ideal for active use like workouts, jogging, and yard work.
- Top con:
- ANC, while effective, is not the best in class and can feel minimal for users wanting full noise isolation, especially noticeable in loud, dynamic settings (e.g., driving with windows down).
Score
The Sony LinkBuds Fit achieves a moderate score due to its exceptional comfort and impressive audio quality, making them ideal for workouts and everyday use. However, users report challenges with the unreliable touch controls and subpar active noise cancellation, which may detract from the overall experience for some. These earbuds offer good value for those prioritizing comfort and sound in their price range.
Scores
Pros
- •The unique hollow rubber horn design offers an exceptionally comfortable and secure fit, ideal for active use like workouts, jogging, and yard work.
- •Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is effective at reducing background noise in busy environments without causing uncomfortable ear pressure.
- •Sound quality is crisp, balanced, and features strong bass that can be customized via the Sony Sound Connect app’s equalizer.
- •Extremely lightweight and barely noticeable, making them great for extended wear and commuting.
- •Tap controls are intuitive and reliable, including innovative touch areas around the ear for gesture commands.
- •The earbuds perform well for phone calls with clear voice quality and stable connectivity.
- •Transparency (ambient) mode provides an open-ear sensation, which is helpful for awareness while exercising or commuting.
- •Compact, stylish charging case blends glossy and matte finishes and fits easily in pockets.
- •The Sony companion app enhances the experience with additional sound customization and voice features like time updates and greetings.
- •Noise cancelling handles most frequencies without causing the clogged-ear feeling common in some ANC earbuds.
Cons
- •ANC, while effective, is not the best in class and can feel minimal for users wanting full noise isolation, especially noticeable in loud, dynamic settings (e.g., driving with windows down).
- •The ear wings/fins may be too small for some, resulting in a less secure fit; different or larger wing sizes could improve comfort.
- •Pairing can be inconvenient because the only control button is on the charging case rather than the earbuds themselves.
- •Tap controls can be a bit tricky, sometimes requiring tapping on the ear cartilage instead of the earbuds for best responsiveness.
- •Slightly bulky for side sleepers and may feel more noticeable on smaller ears or in public.
- •Ambient mode alters sound profile noticeably, which some users might find less natural.
- •Battery life is decent but not ideal for all-day continuous use.
- •Not ideal if you need to hear conversations clearly while ANC is active, as noise cancellation focuses mostly on background noise.
