TLDR Review: Shark Matrix Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop UR2650WS
Verdict
The Shark Matrix Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop (UR2650WS) stands out with its strong suction, self-emptying HEPA base, and evolving home mapping, making it a solid choice for pet owners and households wanting a mostly hands-off cleaning experience. However, its reliance on a flaky app and inability to map multiple floors limit ease of use, especially in larger or multi-level homes. If app frustrations or multi-floor needs are deal-breakers for you, consider waiting or exploring alternatives that offer better app stability or multi-floor mapping support. Otherwise, it remains a highly effective, hardworking cleaner that grows smarter the longer you use it.
- Top pro:
- Powerful suction that cleans carpets and floors thoroughly, effectively picking up dust, pet hair, and debris.
- Top con:
- The app experience can be frustrating, with frequent sign-in issues, crashes, and complicated navigation that detract from usability.
Pros
- •Powerful suction that cleans carpets and floors thoroughly, effectively picking up dust, pet hair, and debris.
- •The self-emptying HEPA base is a game-changer, automatically disposing of dirt without manual handling or bags.
- •Advanced home mapping improves over time and allows for room-specific cleaning and restricted area avoidance.
- •Easy setup and integration with the app allow convenient scheduling and remote control.
- •Non-tangle brush helps prevent hair buildup, making maintenance easier.
- •Quiet operation and impressive battery life enable it to clean an entire home on a single charge.
- •Handles rugs well and navigates around furniture and obstacles smoothly after initial learning.
- •Reliable long-term performance with consistent cleaning results, even after years of use.
Cons
- •The app experience can be frustrating, with frequent sign-in issues, crashes, and complicated navigation that detract from usability.
- •Navigation is slow to optimize and can be clumsy early on; sometimes it misses spots or retraces its path unnecessarily.
- •Lacks multi-floor mapping, so it requires manual relocation for different levels and is best suited for single-story homes.
- •Does not sense when the dustbin is full and may stop unexpectedly, needing a reset.
- •Floor washing/mopping function is harder to clean and maintain compared to vacuuming.
- •Has trouble with low-clearance furniture and tight obstacles like table legs, sometimes getting stuck.
- •No magnetic boundary strips included and limited boundary-setting options.
- •The robot depends heavily on the app; without a working app, it has very limited functionality.
- •Some users experienced issues with the product’s compatibility outside North America (e.g., 110V power zones).
- •No alerts for clogs caused by unusual debris, requiring manual checks and cleaning to restore performance.
