TLDR Review: Shark IZ377H Vacuum
Verdict
If pet hair is your nemesis, the Shark PowerPro Plus IZ377H is a heavyweight contender that delivers powerful, adaptable suction with smart FloorDetect tech and a self-emptying base to lighten your cleaning load. It’s lightweight and cordless, making it a breeze to use over various surfaces, especially for multi-pet households. Just be prepared for frequent bin emptying and filter maintenance, and know that it’s not the best for ultra-low furniture or tight spaces due to its bulk and lack of flexible hose. If you want even more versatility reaching tricky spots, you might need to complement this vacuum with specialized tools or consider vacuums with flexible hoses. Overall, for powerful everyday pet-hair battles and easy maintenance, this model shines. You might want to keep an eye out for updates or newer Shark models if a default eco mode or fold-flat design is a must-have for you.
- Top pro:
- Exceptionally effective at removing pet hair from carpets, rugs, and mats, outperforming many other vacuums on the market.
- Top con:
- The dust chamber is relatively small and fills quickly, especially in multi-pet homes, causing suction to dip as it clogs.
Pros
- •Exceptionally effective at removing pet hair from carpets, rugs, and mats, outperforming many other vacuums on the market.
- •Powerful suction that automatically adjusts between hardwood floors and rugs, making transitions seamless.
- •Long-lasting battery life — can clean a large 2300 sq ft home with some battery still remaining.
- •Lightweight and cordless design makes it easy to maneuver around the house and reach various areas.
- •Self-emptying base is a convenient feature that drastically reduces how often you need to manually empty the dustbin.
- •Roller brush resists hair tangles, which is fantastic for pet owners and cuts down on maintenance time.
- •Three suction modes (Eco, Regular, Turbo) give you control over cleaning power and battery conservation.
- •Easy to switch attachments and detach the handheld vacuum, enhancing versatility for different cleaning needs.
- •FloorDetect Technology smartly switches suction settings based on the floor type, improving efficiency.
- •HEPA filter helps trap fine dust and allergens, making it a good choice for households sensitive to airborne particles.
Cons
- •The dust chamber is relatively small and fills quickly, especially in multi-pet homes, causing suction to dip as it clogs.
- •Some dirt can get trapped in areas of the dust chamber that are tough to clean fully, which may annoy some users.
- •The vacuum does not stand upright on its own and cannot lay completely flat, limiting cleaning under low furniture and forcing awkward storage.
- •No flexible hose or folding feature, reducing access to tight or hard-to-reach spaces compared to some competitors.
- •The default start mode is not eco; it doesn’t remember the last used mode or offer a boost option in eco mode like some previous models, which can be inconvenient.
- •Requires regular filter cleaning or replacement about every 1.5 months to maintain performance.
- •Handle design is cited as unattractive by some users, especially women, though this is more of an aesthetic downside than functional.
- •Battery life while impressive overall can drop to about 30 minutes on high suction, which might not be enough for very large or heavily soiled homes without recharging.
