TLDR Review: Segway Cube 1000 Power Station
Verdict
If you want a robust, portable power station with strong wattage output, expandable battery capacity, and rugged outdoor resistance, the Segway Portable Power Station Cube 1000 is a solid contender—especially for camping, small appliance use, and emergency backup. Just be cautious with the firmware update process and don’t expect it to run heavy household appliances. Its Bluetooth app and UPS efficiency are on the simpler side, so if you want more advanced controls or longer runtimes for bigger loads, you may want to explore alternative models or add extra battery modules carefully. Overall, its durable LiFePO4 battery and high power rating make it a dependable choice for serious off-grid or backup users.
- Top pro:
- Impressive 2200W continuous output with expandable battery capacity up to 5kWh, making it great for extended outages or prolonged off-grid use.
- Top con:
- Firmware update via Bluetooth caused some units to brick and become unusable, indicating potential software reliability issues.

- •Multiple AC outlets, USB-C ports, and car input provide versatile charging options for a wide range of devices and appliances.
- •Supports external battery add-ons and solar panel compatibility, expanding its usability for serious off-grid or camping setups.
- •IP56 rating means it’s dust- and water-resistant — perfect for outdoor adventures or rugged environments.

Cons
- •Firmware update via Bluetooth caused some units to brick and become unusable, indicating potential software reliability issues.
- •Bluetooth-only connectivity requires close proximity to the unit, limiting control convenience from a distance.
- •The app experience is minimal and doesn’t add much useful functionality beyond basic on/off control.
- •Continuous power draw of about 11 watts when fully charged makes it inefficient as a UPS if left plugged in all the time.
- •Solar panels are not included despite imagery suggesting otherwise, so you’ll need to budget for them separately.
- •Cannot power large household appliances such as refrigerators, limiting its use for full home backup.
- •Power drains faster than expected under heavier loads (like running aquarium heaters), so usage time may be shorter than advertised in some cases.
- •Limited detailed specifications and runtime information in the product description, making it hard to fully anticipate performance.
- •Setup is straightforward but the product lacks advanced customization or settings beyond basic power toggling.
- •No return option means buyers should be confident before jumping in.
