TLDR Review: Seagate Expansion 24TB External Hard Drive
Verdict
If you’re looking for an enormous, reliable external hard drive with solid value and Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery protection, the Expansion 24TB USB 3.0 desktop drive checks those boxes with a sleek, compact design. It’s perfect for users who prioritize huge backup capacity over blazing-fast transfer speeds or modern USB-C connectivity. Just be aware that speed is moderate and occasional noise is possible, so it’s best suited for general storage rather than professional high-performance needs. If USB-C ports or faster speeds are must-haves, you might want to consider other models with updated interfaces or SSD technology instead.
- Top pro:

Cons
- •Performance speed is average, not ideal if you need ultra-fast transfer rates or high-speed editing workflows.
- •USB 3.0 only—lacks USB-C support, which could limit compatibility with more modern devices and reduce future-proofing.
- •Occasional audible noise may be noticeable in very quiet environments, which might be a concern for noise-sensitive users.
- •Removing the drive from the enclosure to use internally may void the warranty and risks damaging the casing.
- •Primarily optimized for backup and general storage, not the best option for demanding intensive tasks due to moderate speed.
