TLDR Review: Seagate 8TB External Hard Drive
Verdict
The Seagate 8TB Expansion Desktop External Hard Drive is a solid choice if you need significant storage capacity with simple setup for either Windows or Mac. If you seek a more portable option, consider the Seagate Portable 2TB External Hard Drive for reliable storage on the go with USB 3.0 connectivity and a compact design.
- Top pro:
- Offers ample 8TB storage capacity, excellent for backing up large amounts of data like photos, movies, and music.
- Top con:
- Some users reported reliability issues, with instances of the drive failing after a short period.
Score
The Seagate 8TB Expansion Desktop earns its moderate score primarily for its impressive price per terabyte and strong transfer speeds compared to smaller external hard drives. However, customer reviews highlight significant issues, including reliability concerns and compatibility problems, which could impact long-term satisfaction. Despite excellent value for budget-conscious users needing high storage capacity, the mixed feedback on durability diminishes its overall appeal.
