TLDR Review: Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 Monitor
Verdict
If you're chasing jaw-dropping visuals with perfect blacks and vibrant colors in a 1440p QHD resolution, the Samsung 27” Odyssey OLED G5 is a fantastic pick. Its blazing fast 180Hz refresh and 0.03ms response time make it a strong choice for immersive gaming, though esports-oriented players might find the shadow detail a bit too dark for competitive play. Ergonomics and build quality take a backseat here, so if adjustability is your priority, consider pairing it with a VESA-compatible monitor arm or third-party stand. Overall, this monitor offers remarkable OLED picture quality usually reserved for much pricier sets, making it a compelling option for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts looking for premium visuals under $400.
- Top pro:
- Stunning 27” QHD OLED display delivers perfect blacks, vibrant colors, and excellent contrast that vastly outperform VA, IPS, and TN panels.
- Top con:
- The monitor stand lacks height and tilt adjustment, limiting ergonomic customization and potentially requiring an alternative stand for comfortable use.

- •Shadows tend to be overly dark, which can make spotting enemies difficult in competitive FPS games.
- •The screen does not fully occupy the 27-inch area due to pixel shifting, though this is barely noticeable during daily use.
- •DisplayPort cable lacks locking mechanisms, raising the risk of accidental unplugging.
- •Power plug orientation is horizontal rather than the more common vertical design, which could affect cable management.
- •The build quality feels somewhat cheap in places, particularly with a backplate that has some play and less durable materials.
