TLDR Review: Samsung 83-Inch OLED S85F TV (2025)
Verdict
This Samsung 83-Inch OLED S85F 4K Smart TV delivers breathtaking picture quality and is a standout choice for movie lovers, gamers, and those wanting a large, vivid display for PC use — especially in dim environments. However, if you prize effortless smart TV navigation, pristine natural color right out of the box, and powerful onboard sound, be prepared to adjust some settings or invest in external audio gear. The AI-based motion processing is a bit polarizing, so consider turning it off if it feels unnatural. Despite some software and input interface frustrations, this is a solid premium OLED offering from Samsung with the newest AI Gen2 processor. If your focus is a more user-friendly smart TV interface or sound system, exploring other OLED options might be worthwhile.

Cons
- •Some users mention the AI motion processing can cause odd or unnatural motion effects, which may bother motion-sensitive viewers.
- •Sound quality is generally average or underwhelming without an external sound system — not the TV’s strongest suit.
- •Colors can appear oversaturated and blown out in default picture modes, requiring manual calibration for natural skin tones.
- •The panel struggles with high-frequency visual scenes, sometimes causing pixelation or artifacting during smooth panning shots.
- •Samsung’s smart TV software is often described as cluttered with bloatware and intrusive, requiring a Samsung account which can complicate the user experience.
- •Input switching is cumbersome since it cannot be done directly from the remote, and the minimalist remote lacks effectiveness and precision.
- •AppleTV input interaction is confusing due to Samsung’s UI design separating the app from the input source.
- •Reports of hardware issues exist, including a severe malfunction where the TV stopped working shortly after purchase, with complicated return logistics.
