TLDR Review: Samsung 77-Inch S84F OLED TV
Verdict
The Samsung 77-Inch Class OLED S84F Series delivers gorgeous OLED picture quality and excellent gaming and PC monitor capabilities, making it a fantastic choice for those who prioritize image fidelity and smooth motion processing on a large screen. However, if you want the absolute best color vibrancy and peak brightness, especially compared to Samsung’s QD-OLED smaller models, this WOLED panel can feel a bit underwhelming. Also, be prepared to wrestle with Samsung’s cluttered smart TV software and a remote that’s more minimalist than user-friendly. If those smart features turn you off, or if you want the punchier colors of QD-OLED, you might want to consider waiting or exploring other models. For a similar-sized TV with QD-OLED technology known for richer color and brightness, smaller Samsung models or alternative brands with QD-OLED might be worth checking out.
- Top pro:
- Setup is extremely easy with quick network detection and automatic input source recognition, getting you watching faster without hassle.
- Top con:
- The 77-inch model uses a WOLED panel rather than a QD-OLED panel found in smaller Samsung sizes, resulting in less vibrant colors and lower peak brightness, which can disappoint buyers expecting the top-tier QD-OLED vividness.

- •Smart Hub can be disabled to speed up startup by avoiding automatic app launching, a nice touch for more control.
- •Sound quality is better than expected for a thin panel, delivering surprisingly good audio for general use.
- •The NQ4 AI Gen2 processor enhances upscaling and picture performance, providing an overall superior 4K experience.
- •The TV offers excellent value for its size and technology, making it a competitive choice in the 77-inch OLED market.
Cons
- •The 77-inch model uses a WOLED panel rather than a QD-OLED panel found in smaller Samsung sizes, resulting in less vibrant colors and lower peak brightness, which can disappoint buyers expecting the top-tier QD-OLED vividness.
- •Samsung’s AI motion feature can produce unnatural or odd motion artifacts in some scenarios, detracting from an otherwise smooth viewing experience.
- •Colors often appear oversaturated and blown out across many picture modes, requiring manual tweaking to achieve natural skin tones and balanced visuals.
- •The panel struggles with high-frequency scenes, showing pixelation or artifacting during smooth panning shots, which may bother cinephiles or sports viewers.
- •The smart TV interface is cluttered with Samsung bloatware, and requires a Samsung account, which some users find annoying and confusing.
- •Input switching is cumbersome because it cannot be done directly from the remote, leading to inconvenience when connecting multiple devices.
- •The minimalist remote control is lacking in functionality compared to other brands’ remotes, reducing ease of use.
- •Some users experience confusion with the Apple TV input due to Samsung’s UI separating the app from the actual HDMI input.
- •Sound quality, while decent, is generally considered average and may prompt users to invest in an external sound system for a full home theater experience.
