TLDR Review: Samsung 65-Inch S90D OLED TV (2024)
Verdict
The SAMSUNG 65-Inch Class OLED 4K S90D Series is a spectacular choice if you're seeking sublime picture quality, vibrant HDR performance, and top-tier gaming features wrapped in a sleek, modern design. Its cutting-edge QD-OLED panel, excellent anti-glare performance, and immersive Dolby Atmos sound make it a winner for movie buffs and gamers alike. However, if you rely heavily on Dolby Vision HDR or dislike an OS with heavy subscription nudges, you might want to weigh those downsides carefully before committing to this premium TV. For those who prioritize gaming and stunning visuals but can handle some software quirks and high cost, this model is definitely worth considering. If Dolby Vision is a must-have for you, you might want to explore options from LG's OLED lineup, which generally supports Dolby Vision but may trade off some Samsung-specific features.
- Top pro:

- Top con:
- No support for Dolby Vision HDR, a widely preferred format on many popular streaming platforms, which might disappoint some users.

Cons

- •The operating system (Tizen) has frustrating elements for some, including many remote buttons tied to subscription services, which can feel like excessive advertising.
- •Game Mode automatically activates with PS5 and cannot be easily disabled, limiting customization for some gamers.
- •Limited cable management options beyond the One Connect box, and outdated networking specs (Ethernet/Wi-Fi) may feel behind the curve.
- •The TV is relatively heavy and requires assistance for stand assembly, which some users found challenging.
- •Absence of USB 3.0 ports might restrict connectivity options for users with faster external drives or peripherals.
- •Concerns reported about misleading marketing around QD-OLED availability, causing confusion or frustration.
- •Out-of-the-box picture settings sometimes cause motion handling issues like judder and pixelation, requiring manual tweaking (e.g., Film Mode) which can reduce brightness.
- •Some users mentioned occasional screen mirroring and software performance quirks, especially with layered images when AI and motion controls are enabled.
- •High price point makes it a premium investment, potentially putting it out of reach for budget-conscious buyers.
