TLDR Review: RYOBI ONE+ Cordless Fogger/Sprayer
Verdict
The RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Electrostatic Fogger/Sprayer is a solid choice if you want cordless convenience, good coverage, and electrostatic spray technology for large-area sanitation or gardening. However, be prepared for some initial learning curve with pump priming and strictly check your disinfectant's compatibility before use, as this unit does not support all chemicals commonly needed for COVID-19 or harsh disinfecting. Some users report durability issues and leakage that could affect long-term reliability. If you want more confidence in disinfectant compatibility or a more robust pumping system, consider alternatives specialized for commercial disinfecting, but if cordless and battery-powered is key for you, this Ryobi does deliver decent performance once past its quirks.
- Top pro:
- Electrostatic technology effectively charges spray particles, allowing the mist to wrap around objects for thorough and even coverage.
- Top con:
- The sprayer relies on gravity feed and has no built-in pump, so it must be held below the backpack level for proper fluid flow; holding it too high causes feed issues and sputtering.
Pros
- •Electrostatic technology effectively charges spray particles, allowing the mist to wrap around objects for thorough and even coverage.
- •Comes with two 2.0 Ah lithium-ion batteries and a charger, providing good runtime and convenience without needing immediate recharging.
- •Covers large areas efficiently, treating 5,000 to 7,000 sq ft in about two hours, making it suitable for sanitation or gardening tasks.
- •Lightweight and cordless design ensures easy handling and maneuverability during use.
- •Once properly primed, the gravity-fed pump delivers consistent and reliable spray flow without clogging.
- •Includes a warranty, offering buyers some peace of mind on durability and support.
- •Easy to clean by rinsing and flushing the tank and spray head with fresh water.
- •Ideal for disinfecting and sanitizing large spaces quickly when using compatible solutions.
Cons
- •The sprayer relies on gravity feed and has no built-in pump, so it must be held below the backpack level for proper fluid flow; holding it too high causes feed issues and sputtering.
- •Initial pump priming can be tricky and time-consuming, requiring air removal from the feed tube and slight pressurization of the tank; not exactly plug-and-play for beginners.
- •Some users report a decline in performance after just a few months, including failure to hold prime or spray even though the motor runs and no clogs are found.
- •Occasional leaking after releasing the trigger makes the unit unreliable and can create messes or waste solution.
- •Not compatible with many common disinfectants like bleach or hydrogen peroxide despite some marketing; fine print restricts disinfectant options, and customer support initially gave confusing info.
- •The product appears to be originally designed for gardening applications and repurposed for disinfecting, so chemical compatibility is limited and must be carefully checked.
- •Marketing about disinfecting power and chemical compatibility is somewhat misleading, creating potential buyer confusion.
