TLDR Review: Reletech 1TB Portable SSD
Pros
- •Transforms tablets and mobile devices into fully portable media and workstations, enhancing functionality on the go.
- •Frees up valuable internal storage by offloading photos, videos, and music to local storage without relying on cloud bandwidth.
- •Securely attaches to iPhone 15/16 series via MagSafe, reducing the chance of accidental drops during use.
- •Supports pashrough charging, allowing simultaneous charging of the device while using the SSD with a compatible MagSafe charger.
- •Offers fast data transfer speeds up to 1000MB/s via USB 3.2, saving time during file transfers.
- •Droesistant aluminum alloy design provides durability suitable for mobile and active users.
- •Easy to install and useriendly across laptops, tablets, and compatible iPhones.
- •Good overall value for a 1TB portable SSD with specialized support for 4K ProRes HDR workflows.
Cons
- •Does not support 24fps (or higher) log video recording on iPhone 16 Pro Max, causing the camera app to crash during higrame-rate video capture.
- •Internal drive speed limitations may bottleneck performance for professionarade, high-bitrate video recording tasks.
- •Requires a properly powered charger and cable setup to ensure full functionality of charging pashrough and data transfer—less forgiving for casual or unprepared users.
Bottom Line
The Reletech 1TB Magnetic SSD is a sleek, portable storage solution designed with iPhone 15/16 users and content creators in mind, especially for managing media and office tasks on the go. Its MagSafe attachment and pass-through charging add convenience and durability not always found in typical SSDs. However, if you're a serious videographer relying on stable 24fps+ log video capture on the latest iPhone Pro Max, this might not fully meet your needs due to camera app instability and internal speed constraints. For those primarily focused on general storage expansion and efficient 4K ProRes HDR editing with fast transfers, this drive offers solid value and versatility. If professional high-frame-rate iPhone video recording is a priority, you may want to explore higher-end SSDs explicitly optimized for such intensive workflows, though we don't currently have an alternative product listed here for that specific use case.
