TLDR Review: Razer Raiju V3 Pro Controller
Verdict
The Razer Raiju V3 is an excellent, premium controller that genuinely outperforms the DualSense in build quality, precision, and customization—but it's specifically engineered for PlayStation and PC gaming, not both equally. If you're a PlayStation/PS5 player looking for competitive advantages with superior ergonomics and durability, this controller is absolutely worth the investment. However, if you plan to use this on PC with PlayStation-based games, be aware that you'll need to apply workarounds or mods to make it function with the correct button mapping, which somewhat defeats the "officially licensed" promise. For pure PS5 gaming or if you're willing to deal with the PC compatibility quirks, you're getting a genuinely high-quality controller with zero regrets—just don't expect the thumb sticks to be replaceable if they eventually wear out.
- Top pro:
- Re-mappable buttons and customizable thumb stick placement deliver game-changing advantages for movement, shooting, and reaction times in competitive play
- Top con:
- Major PC compatibility issue: Registers as an Xbox controller rather than a PlayStation controller despite being marketed as officially licensed for PlayStation, requiring mods to function properly with correct button layouts
Pros
- •Re-mappable buttons and customizable thumb stick placement deliver game-changing advantages for movement, shooting, and reaction times in competitive play
- •Exceptional build quality with superior tactile feel—buttons are genuinely pleasant to click, triggers feel premium, and the grip is comfortable with a solid feel
- •Joystick precision is noticeably improved over the DualSense, and the TMR technology actually prevents drift and wear even with heavy use
- •Battery life crushes the DualSense, lasting approximately 3 days with regular 4+ hours of daily play
- •Zero input lag on programmed buttons with flawless delivery and no missed inputs
- •Lightweight, slip-resistant design with excellent ergonomic feel that works equally well for competitive FPS games and casual story-driven experiences
- •Intuitive customization app that delivers immediate performance improvements
- •Compatible with 2.4 GHz wireless headsets without any interference
Cons
- •Major PC compatibility issue: Registers as an Xbox controller rather than a PlayStation controller despite being marketed as officially licensed for PlayStation, requiring mods to function properly with correct button layouts
- •No replaceable thumb sticks—if they wear out, you're buying a whole new controller
- •Occasional input lag on mappable buttons occurs roughly 1 in 10 times, which could be frustrating in competitive moments
- •Bottom paddle placement prone to accidental triggers for some players
- •D-pad lacks the precision needed for fighting games
- •Included USB-C to USB-A cable is shorter than ideal
