TLDR Review: Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine
Verdict
If you want an easy, water-saving way to keep your vehicle clean and shiny without the hassle of a hose, Optimum (NR2010Q) No Rinse Wash & Shine offers superb performance with minimal risk of scratching. It's perfect for quick touch-ups, winter washing, or apartment dwellers needing low-water options. Just keep in mind it takes a bit of finesse to get the technique right, and for serious grime, a traditional wash is still recommended. If you want a product that delivers gloss plus wax protection in one step, consider pairing this with a quality spray wax or trying a dedicated wash-and-wax combo product.
- Top pro:
- Works exceptionally well as a rinseless wash with zero scratching or hazing when used with proper technique.
- Top con:
- Requires some practice to apply correctly and mist in the right amount for best results.
Pros
- •Works exceptionally well as a rinseless wash with zero scratching or hazing when used with proper technique.
- •Extremely slick formula that lifts dirt easily with light pressure and quality microfiber towels, reducing the risk of paint damage.
- •Versatile: can be used as a rinseless wash, pre-soak for dirty panels, quick detailer, or even wheel and tire cleaner.
- •Perfect for situations without access to a hose, ideal for winter, water restrictions, or quick maintenance washes.
- •Leaves paint smooth, glossy, and residue-free when applied sparingly, delivering a satisfying shine.
- •Eco-friendly by using very little water, supporting sustainable car care practices.
- •Economical due to dilution flexibility—can be diluted 1:5 or more to extend use, saving money over time.
- •Pleasant scent and easy to work with, especially when using dry microfiber towels and proper techniques.
- •Complements other detailing products well, allowing customization (e.g., adding liquid wax for enhanced protection and gloss).
- •Excellent at removing dried bugs, tree sap, brake dust, and light contaminants, doubling as a quick detailer.
Cons
- •Requires some practice to apply correctly and mist in the right amount for best results.
- •Multiple microfiber towels may be needed for larger vehicles as they absorb the solution quickly.
- •Lacks wax content, so it doesn’t provide a true just-waxed finish unless supplemented with additional products.
- •For heavily soiled cars, a regular full wash is still necessary as this is more of a maintenance or quick wash solution.
- •Careful attention during use is necessary to avoid product waste or less effective cleaning performance.
