TLDR Review: Noodlers Heart Of Darkness Ink
Verdict
Noodlers Ink in Heart of Darkness offers an intense black color ideal for writing and drawing, coupled with great value for its size. However, if you often use lower quality paper or the included pen, you might encounter issues. For best results, use the ink with higher quality paper and consider a separate pen to maximize your experience.
- Top pro:
- The ink is highly pigmented, offering a very dark black color, making it ideal for bold writing and drawing.
- Top con:
- Despite being resistant to industrial solvents, 14% of reviews mentioned that it is not waterproof as expected.
Score
Noodler's Heart of Darkness ink earns a moderate score due to its impressive richness and intensity, making it a popular choice among fountain pen users for writing and drawing. However, many users reported issues with the included pen, particularly leaking and inconsistency, which detracted from the experience. While the ink performs well on quality paper, it poses challenges with smearing and bleed-through on cheaper options, particularly when paired with watercolor techniques, leading some to seek better alternatives for their artistic needs.
