TLDR Review: Moto G Power 5G (2024)
Verdict
This Motorola Moto G Power 5G (2024) model offers solid specs and good performance at a fair price, but buyer beware: many units are not truly unlocked as advertised and carry unwanted Verizon or AT&T carrier restrictions and apps. If you need a hassle-free experience with broad carrier compatibility, consider this carefully or verify carrier unlocking with the seller before purchasing. For a more reliable fully unlocked experience without carrier leftovers, you might want to explore other models explicitly confirmed for your preferred network.
- Top pro:
- The phone operates smoothly and reliably with no system issues, performing as described.
- Top con:
- Despite being advertised as unlocked, many users report that the phone is actually locked to AT&T or Verizon, making it incompatible with other carriers like Metro or T-Mobile.
Pros
- •The phone operates smoothly and reliably with no system issues, performing as described.
- •Feels like a high-quality device rather than a budget phone, delivering good overall performance.
- •Fully compatible and works perfectly out of the box with T-Mobile and AT&T SIM cards (when truly unlocked).
- •Offers good value for the price, especially for users looking for a mid-range 5G phone with a 6.7" HD+ screen and 120Hz refresh rate.
- •Large storage (128GB) and ample RAM (8GB) support multitasking and storage needs comfortably.
- •The 50MP camera provides decent photo quality fitting for everyday use.
Cons
- •Despite being advertised as unlocked, many users report that the phone is actually locked to AT&T or Verizon, making it incompatible with other carriers like Metro or T-Mobile.
- •Persistent Verizon apps and branding remain, cluttering the device and generating continuous network error notifications that can’t be completely removed.
- •The product description can be misleading regarding true carrier compatibility and unlocking status.
- •Seller support for refund or resolution is reportedly poor, with lengthy refund processes and disputed returns.
- •Using this phone on unsupported carriers may cause frustration due to bloatware and network issues not covered by the seller’s instructions.
- •The renewed condition means some devices may carry remnants of previous carrier customization that impacts user experience.
- •If you plan to use it primarily with Metro or other non-AT&T/T-Mobile networks, compatibility is not guaranteed.
