TLDR Review: Milwaukee M18 Jobsite Fan
Verdict
The Milwaukee 0886-20 M18 Jobsite Fan is a versatile, well-built, and powerful option for those needing a portable cooling solution on a job site or in smaller enclosed spaces. Its combination of strong airflow, long battery life with 9Ah packs, and the included AC adapter make it a convenient and reliable fan for both professional and DIY use. However, if you need a fan for larger spaces or want something ultra-durable for harsher conditions, its somewhat lighter construction and limited airflow coverage might leave you wanting more. Also, the bulky AC adapter and lack of battery charging through the fan itself are minor annoyances to consider before buying. If you value portability and power and are already invested in the M18 battery ecosystem, this fan is a solid pick. Otherwise, for larger areas or less fuss with cords and charging, exploring other heavy-duty jobsite fans might be worthwhile.
- Top pro:
- Offers three adjustable speed modes that effectively deliver a well-focused airflow with good reach, ideal for indoor and outdoor use in hot conditions.
- Top con:
- Construction is solid but not quite as rugged or “bombproof” as typical Milwaukee heavy-duty tools, making it better suited to homeowners and hobbyists rather than extreme professional abuse.
Pros
- •Offers three adjustable speed modes that effectively deliver a well-focused airflow with good reach, ideal for indoor and outdoor use in hot conditions.
- •Runs for an entire workday (about 10 hours) on a 9Ah battery at the highest setting; lower capacity batteries provide proportionally less runtime.
- •Compatible with Milwaukee’s common M18 battery packs up to 9Ah when placed flat; comes with two batteries included for convenience.
- •Includes a 110V AC adapter allowing continuous use without draining the battery, enhancing versatility on job sites or at home.
- •Durable and reliable construction that maintains like-new performance even after years of professional use.
- •Compact, portable design with adjustable tilt for directing airflow exactly where needed, making it easy to move and set up anywhere.
- •Very powerful and forceful compared to competitors like Dewalt, Ryobi, and Craftsman, making it a top choice for jobsite cooling.
- •Simple, rugged 3-speed switch that’s easy to operate and built to last.
- •Well-balanced and safe design with well-protected fan blades contributes to overall durability and user safety.
- •Enhances productivity and workflow by providing refreshing airflow, which is especially beneficial in automotive or workshop environments.
Cons
- •Construction is solid but not quite as rugged or “bombproof” as typical Milwaukee heavy-duty tools, making it better suited to homeowners and hobbyists rather than extreme professional abuse.
- •AC adapter is bulky, tricky to store neatly, and has no integrated cord storage, requiring creative solutions like Velcro straps to keep it secure during transport.
- •Battery does not charge via the fan; users must rely on a separate charger for batteries.
- •Slightly noisy on the highest speed setting, which is expected given the fan’s power output and size.
- •Best performance is limited to smaller areas or single-user scenarios; the airflow may be insufficient for large spaces or cooling multiple people.
- •AC power cord is thin and plugs into a separate adapter rather than being integrated, making it somewhat fragile and annoying to manage.
- •12Ah battery packs may not fit flat on the fan, limiting compatibility with some extended capacity batteries.
- •Replacement batteries can be expensive, increasing long-term cost for heavy users.
