TLDR Review: Makita WT03Z Impact Wrench
Verdict
This compact impact wrench is a decent choice for light-duty work and tight spaces, but here's where we have concerns: the torque rating appears to be fiction rather than fact—multiple reviewers report it struggling with lug nuts at 80 ft-lbs despite its claimed 200 ft-lb capacity. If you need real power for heavier automotive work, this isn't the tool for you. We'd also remind you that the $93.05 price tag doesn't include a battery and charger, so you'll be looking at a bigger investment once you factor those in. Best suited for occasional, lighter tasks or as a compact companion tool, not as a primary impact wrench for serious work.
- Top pro:
- Effectively removes lug nuts on lighter vehicles like 1/2 ton trucks
- Top con:
- Battery and charger sold separately, which means the real cost extends well beyond the $93.05 price tag
Pros
- •Effectively removes lug nuts on lighter vehicles like 1/2 ton trucks
- •Lightweight with a comfortable grip for extended use
- •Compact design works great for tight working spaces
- •Well-built and backed by Makita's solid reputation
- •Good battery life with a 4ah battery
Cons
- •Battery and charger sold separately, which means the real cost extends well beyond the $93.05 price tag
- •Torque rating is misleading—struggles with lug nuts torqued at 80+ ft-lbs despite claiming 200 ft-lb capacity
- •Designed for light-duty applications only, not suitable for heavy-duty impact work
- •Not compatible with existing Makita 18V batteries, requiring you to invest in a separate 12V battery setup
- •May require extended effort and multiple attempts for tasks within its stated torque range
