TLDR Review: LG OLED evo C4 65-Inch TV
Verdict
The LG OLED65C4PUA delivers premium OLED picture quality combined with a sleek design and powerful α9 Gen7 AI Processor, making it an excellent choice for cinematic viewing and high-performance gaming alike. Its gaming credentials — including 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, and very low input lag — give it an edge over many competitors in its price range, and it doubles as a strong PC monitor option. The main drawbacks stem from software sluggishness and limited brightness compared to some LCD alternatives, but the breathtaking contrast and color performance more than compensate for those flaws. If you want a versatile, stunning 65-inch 4K OLED TV with robust smart and gaming features, the LG C4 is a top contender. For users prioritizing a smoother smart OS experience or extreme brightness, considering other models like premium IPS LCDs might be worthwhile, but for deep blacks and picture quality in a dark room, this TV shines.
- Top pro:
- Outstanding picture quality with true, deep blacks and vibrant colors typical of OLED evo technology, delivering a visually stunning experience.
- Top con:
- The webOS interface can be slow and clunky, with basic menu navigation and settings sometimes taking several seconds to respond.
Pros
- •Outstanding picture quality with true, deep blacks and vibrant colors typical of OLED evo technology, delivering a visually stunning experience.
- •The α9 Gen7 AI Processor intelligently optimizes picture and sound based on content, enhancing viewing in various lighting conditions.
- •Excellent gaming features including 0.1ms response time, native 120Hz refresh rate, VRR support, and four HDMI 2.1 inputs suitable for next-gen consoles and PC gaming.
- •Supports 4K resolution with HDR and Dolby Vision for breathtaking clarity and contrast.
- •Versatile smart features powered by webOS 24 with Alexa built-in provide easy streaming of popular services like Plex and YouTube.
- •Size and design work well for close viewing distances (around 3-4 feet), with an almost bezel-less edge that blends nicely into surroundings.
- •Sound quality from built-in speakers is decent but can be boosted further with an external soundbar or audio system.
- •Functions well as a PC monitor with low input lag and comparable or better refresh performance than many dedicated gaming monitors.
- •No reported issues with burn-in even with heavy daily usage featuring static elements on screen.
- •Provides strong overall value for a premium OLED TV with advanced processing and gaming-ready features, especially attractive if found on sale.
Cons
- •The webOS interface can be slow and clunky, with basic menu navigation and settings sometimes taking several seconds to respond.
- •Some users find the software buggy and occasionally annoying, detracting from an otherwise great hardware experience.
- •Initial setup includes cumbersome agreements and prompts, though these diminish after initial acceptance.
- •HDR peak brightness, while improved over older OLEDs, is still not as high as the brightest VA or IPS LED panels, trading off peak brightness for superior black levels.
- •Manual input switching is required when connecting a PC, as it does not auto-detect or switch inputs automatically.
- •Built-in speakers, while serviceable, are best supplemented with a soundbar for a fuller audio experience.
- •Certain picture and audio settings can be limited or locked out in specific modes, reducing customization options.
- •Some users noted that connecting the TV to household WiFi may cause software-related glitches or slowdowns.
