TLDR Review: LG 86QNED82A TV
Verdict
The LG 86-Inch Class QNED AI 4K QNED82A Series offers impressive picture and audio quality at a competitive price point, making it a strong contender if you want a large, feature-packed TV with smart capabilities and built-in voice control. However, it falls short with somewhat clunky remote control design and a busy interface that needs tidying to shine fully. If you prioritize smooth remote navigation or want more seamless app integration, you might want to explore newer LG models or alternative smart TVs with better remotes or preloaded streaming apps. Still, for an immersive 86-inch 4K experience with robust customization, this TV delivers solid value.
- Top pro:
- Excellent picture quality with vibrant color, sharpness, and bright 4K clarity, significantly better than older 1080p models.
- Top con:
- The original remote lacks a mute button and features stiff, hard-to-press volume and channel buttons, making frequent use somewhat frustrating.

- •Responsive wireless streaming and smart features with Alexa built-in, allowing seamless access to many streaming channels and voice control.
- •Remote control supports convenient features like scrolling and QR code-assisted password entry, plus the option to supplement control via a phone app with screen mirroring.
- •Large 86-inch QNED display offers an immersive, cinematic viewing experience, fitting well in both open spaces and TV cabinets.

Cons
- •The original remote lacks a mute button and features stiff, hard-to-press volume and channel buttons, making frequent use somewhat frustrating.
- •Remote cursor control can be clunky and limiting; users often wish for a trackpad-style remote for smoother navigation and better control.
- •The home screen is cluttered and busy by default, requiring manual cleanup for a tidier interface.
- •Setup can feel slow and the overall system (webOS) occasionally exhibits sluggish performance or slow response times to commands.
- •Missing built-in access to streaming apps like PBS means you may need external devices such as Roku or Amazon Fire TV for certain content.
- •The stand quality feels cheap, and HDMI inputs do not always auto-switch when powering devices on, which can be annoying.
- •Privacy concerns exist due to saved passwords in the cloud for webOS apps, which some users may find unsettling.
- •Remote has a learning curve and cannot control other connected devices beyond power and volume effectively.
