TLDR Review: LG 45GS95QE Gaming Monitor
Verdict
The LG 45GS95QE is a stunning 45” ultrawide OLED gaming monitor that excels in picture quality, immersion, and fast-paced gaming performance thanks to its 240Hz refresh rate and near-instant response time. Its aggressive but rewarding 800R curve and wide 21:9 aspect ratio make it a top choice for immersive gameplay and productivity multitasking. However, consider the relatively low pixel density for text clarity, the small menu button design, and some reported customer support challenges before purchasing. If OLED burn-in risk or support concerns give you pause, or if you want a slightly different curvature or more input ports, you might want to explore other high-end ultrawide gaming monitors. But if jaw-dropping visuals and fluid gaming are your priority, this is a powerhouse display that will elevate your setup.
- Top pro:
- Picture quality is outstanding with sharp, clear text and phenomenal OLED and HDR visuals delivering rich blacks and vivid color contrast.
- Top con:
- The monitor’s menu button is small, poorly placed on the back, and awkward to operate without a remote, making settings adjustments inconvenient.
Pros
- •Picture quality is outstanding with sharp, clear text and phenomenal OLED and HDR visuals delivering rich blacks and vivid color contrast.
- •The 240Hz refresh rate combined with an ultra-fast 0.03ms response time results in incredibly smooth and responsive gameplay, great for fast-paced competitive gaming.
- •The 45” 21:9 curved OLED screen with an 800R curve provides a highly immersive experience, making gaming and productivity feel more captivating without overwhelming most users.
- •Wide screen enhances productivity by allowing easy window snapping side-by-side and reduces excessive head or eye movement.
- •The monitor includes solid build quality with sturdy aluminum materials and a well-thought-out, adjustable stand (tilt, height, swivel).
- •Auto-switch to HDR mode works smoothly when enabled, providing seamless HDR content viewing.
- •Multiple connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack and decent built-in speakers suitable for casual audio use.
- •RGB backlighting adds ambient appeal and can reduce eye strain during long sessions.
- •Gaming on Xbox performs well, with natural black bars for 16:9 content maintaining image quality without awkward stretching.
Cons
- •The monitor’s menu button is small, poorly placed on the back, and awkward to operate without a remote, making settings adjustments inconvenient.
- •Some users find the 800R curve a bit aggressive or overwhelming, especially if they are not used to strong curvature.
- •The 1440p resolution on a large 45” screen means pixel density is lower (~82ppi), which can make smaller text less sharp outside of gaming contexts compared to 4K monitors.
- •OLED burn-in protection features are included but may still raise concerns for users planning extended static screen use, despite not being a major issue in normal work scenarios.
- •Customer support and warranty service have been reported as unhelpful by some users, with difficulties obtaining refunds or replacements when hardware issues occur.
- •Having only one DisplayPort and no remote for PIP (Picture-in-Picture) or PBP (Picture-by-Picture) functions can be limiting for advanced multi-input setups.
- •The built-in audio, while decent, is not suitable for audiophiles or demanding sound setups.
