TLDR Review: LG 39GX90SA-W 39" Ultragear OLED Gaming Monitor
Verdict
The LG 39GX90SA-W is a fantastic ultrawide gaming monitor for those who want stunning OLED picture quality combined with a high refresh rate and fast response time, perfect for immersive gaming and multitasking professionals. However, it demands proper calibration and a beefy graphics card to unleash its full potential, and beware that the "5K2K" label is more marketing hype than reality—the resolution is WQHD 3440 x 1440. If you want a killer combination of OLED clarity and gaming performance and don’t mind tweaking settings, this is a gem. Otherwise, consider other ultrawide gaming monitors if you're after guaranteed pixel density or out-of-the-box accuracy without fuss.
- Top pro:
- The large 39-inch ultrawide OLED curved display offers incredibly immersive visuals with deep, true blacks and vibrant, accurate colors ideal for gaming and professional use.
- Top con:
- The monitor’s advertised "5K2K" resolution is misleading; the actual resolution is 3440 x 1440 (WQHD), not true 5K, which may disappoint users expecting a higher pixel count.
Pros
- •The large 39-inch ultrawide OLED curved display offers incredibly immersive visuals with deep, true blacks and vibrant, accurate colors ideal for gaming and professional use.

- •Versatile connectivity options including USB Type-C and DisplayPort support multiple devices seamlessly.
- •The aggressive but comfortable 800R curve enhances immersion without causing discomfort when properly positioned about 31 inches from the eyes.
- •Adjustable height and sturdy stand make it easy to fit various desk setups.
- •The monitor includes built-in speakers that are surprisingly loud and clear for daily use, eliminating the need for separate audio devices.

- •OLED Pixel Cleaning and manual calibration can resolve initial panel issues and improve image quality significantly.
- •Power-efficient operation keeps the monitor running cool with relatively low power consumption even under HDR settings.
Cons
- •The monitor’s advertised "5K2K" resolution is misleading; the actual resolution is 3440 x 1440 (WQHD), not true 5K, which may disappoint users expecting a higher pixel count.
- •Some users experience initial panel artifacts or faint white bars, requiring the use of the Pixel Cleaning feature or manual calibration to fix.
- •Out-of-the-box image quality may appear washed out due to VESA calibration; proper manual adjustments to brightness, contrast, and color settings are necessary to get the best picture.
- •Requires a powerful GPU (preferably RTX 5000 or RX 7000 series) to fully leverage the high resolution and refresh rate without performance bottlenecks.
- •HDR performance can feel inconsistent and may require tweaking depending on whether you are on console or PC.
- •The 21:9 aspect ratio, while great for immersion, may not be ideal for all games or professional tasks without switching aspect ratio modes.
- •Price point is considered high, though discounts improve value.
