TLDR Review: Lenovo Idea Tab Pro
Verdict
The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro is a robust, well-rounded student tablet with a large high-res display, strong performance, and excellent stylus support — perfect for creative tasks, streaming, and gaming on a budget. However, its size and weight might limit portability, and battery management settings may require some compromise on runtime. If you want a sleek, capable tablet with a premium feel and solid gaming chops but can handle the bulk, this device deserves serious consideration. For those prioritizing lighter design or better battery flexibility, you might want to explore other mid-range tablets, but for all-around performance with pen input included, this is a reliable pick.
- Top pro:
- The 12.7” 3K LCD display delivers a large, vibrant screen, great for media consumption and creative work.
- Top con:
- The tablet’s large size and weight can make it cumbersome for portrait (vertical) use and less portable if using bulky cases.
Pros
- •The 12.7” 3K LCD display delivers a large, vibrant screen, great for media consumption and creative work.
- •The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor combined with 8 GB RAM ensures smooth, fast performance for gaming, streaming, and multitasking.
- •Comes with a responsive stylus that holds charge well and enhances productivity, ideal for students and creative professionals.
- •Solid build quality with a premium thin metal finish that feels sturdy and high-end in hand.
- •Battery life generally lasts a full day of mixed use, with fairly reliable performance for streaming and gaming sessions.
- •Includes a folio case for protection and comes ready to use out of the box with useful accessories.
- •Strong and stable WiFi connectivity supports smooth video calls, streaming, and online study/work sessions.
- •Clean user experience with minimal bloatware, most of which can be removed except the Lenovo management app.
- •Sleek and modern design paired with a lightweight feel without the case.
- •Good storage space at 128 GB, sufficient for apps, media files, and games without worry.
Cons
- •The tablet’s large size and weight can make it cumbersome for portrait (vertical) use and less portable if using bulky cases.
- •Battery management limits max charge to 80% under protective settings, with no user control to adjust this, which may affect full-day use for power users.
- •Battery life can be noticeably shorter than claimed, partly due to the power-hungry LCD screen technology, especially at higher brightness levels.
- •Gaming performance can lag during graphically intense scenes with multiple on-screen effects despite strong overall speed.
- •Lenovo’s Android support appears limited, likely stuck on Android 16 without guaranteed future updates.
- •Requires the official Lenovo 65W charger to achieve fast charging; other chargers might not work as expected.
- •Some pre-installed Lenovo bloatware remains, which cannot be completely removed and may annoy some users.
- •The tablet is relatively heavy compared to other student tablets, which affects portability and comfort during handheld use.
- •Vertical usage is less practical due to screen size, making it feel more like a portable monitor than a traditional tablet.
