TLDR Review: Kraus KHF200-33 Farmhouse Sink
Verdict
The Kraus KHF200-33 farmhouse apron sink is a top-tier choice for anyone wanting a durable, large single bowl stainless steel sink that blends modern style with practical features like sound dampening and a versatile deep basin. However, its heaviness means you’ll likely need to reinforce your cabinet and possibly tweak your plumbing, so make sure you’re prepared for a more involved installation. If you want a similarly high-quality sink with a bit more ease on installation or plumbing, you might want to explore other farmhouse options. But if style, durability, and size are your priority, this Kraus model will deliver beautifully.
- Top pro:
- Crafted from thick 16-gauge stainless steel, the sink offers exceptional durability and resists dents and deformation even after years of heavy use.
- Top con:
- The sink is heavy and may require cutting cabinet side walls and adding extra wood supports, especially in a 36" cabinet setup, which could complicate installation.
Pros
- •Crafted from thick 16-gauge stainless steel, the sink offers exceptional durability and resists dents and deformation even after years of heavy use.
- •The brushed stainless steel finish is elegant, softly gleaming, and easy to maintain with regular care.
- •Effective sound dampening technology minimizes tinny noises, making kitchen tasks quieter.
- •The large, deep single bowl design easily fits oversized pots, roasting pans, and sheet pans, offering more versatility than typical double bowl sinks.
- •The farmhouse apron front adds a stylish, modern focal point that pairs beautifully with quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances.
- •Installation is straightforward with a precise template and strong support flanges, although additional cabinet reinforcements are recommended due to the sink’s weight.
- •Comes with useful accessories including a metal grid and basket strainer that elevate dishes and help with drainage.
- •The sink remains sturdy and securely in place under heavy daily use without sagging or movement.
- •Thoughtful packaging and included spare parts show attention to detail from the manufacturer.
Cons
- •The sink is heavy and may require cutting cabinet side walls and adding extra wood supports, especially in a 36" cabinet setup, which could complicate installation.
- •The deep bowl lowers the position of the drain and disposal, potentially necessitating plumbing modifications to maintain proper drainage slope.
- •The metal grid, while protective, traps food debris and can be difficult to keep thoroughly clean; it also causes minor wear marks under the plastic feet.
- •Water spots and slight discoloration can develop around the drain area over time, with the front top edge showing water marks that are stubborn to remove despite regular cleaning.
- •The sink’s depth requires some extra bending when washing dishes, which might be uncomfortable for some users.
- •The towel accessory included with the sink feels cheap compared to the overall product quality.
