TLDR Review: Klipsch RP-600M II Speakers
Verdict
The Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-600M II bookshelf speakers offer an impressive blend of clarity, power, and dynamic range that makes them an excellent fit for medium-sized rooms and home theaters. They shine especially when paired with a subwoofer and proper room correction, delivering audiophile-grade performance without a boutique price. If you want standout imaging, loud clean sound, and warm yet detailed highs, these are a solid pick — just be prepared to invest in quality stands and some setup finesse to unlock their full potential. For those looking for even higher midrange performance or real wood finish, exploring higher-tier Klipsch models might be worth the splurge.
- Top pro:
- Delivers big, open, and forward sound with excellent imaging and dynamic range, creating a natural, live "you are there" listening experience.
- Top con:
- The mid-range could be improved and is sometimes outperformed by higher-end speaker models.
Pros
- •Delivers big, open, and forward sound with excellent imaging and dynamic range, creating a natural, live "you are there" listening experience.
- •High sensitivity allows very loud volumes with clarity and minimal distortion, performing well at both low and high volumes.
- •Offers audiophile-level detail and dynamics at a non-boutique price point, making it a significant upgrade over older bookshelf speakers.
- •Works wonderfully in home theater setups, especially when paired with a subwoofer to enhance bass depth.
- •Built with high-quality materials and furniture-grade walnut veneer presenting an elegant, sturdy design.
- •Room correction features and MiniDSP integration allow for precise EQ tuning without harshness.
- •Produces warm, sparkling sound with rich midrange and crisp, airy treble, avoiding ear fatigue common in some other Klipsch models.
- •Suitable size for medium rooms (like 12x21 feet) and versatile enough for bookshelf or surround sound use.
- •Clear and deep sub-bass performance for a 6.5” woofer, often eliminating the need for a subwoofer in smaller spaces.
- •Preferred over many competitors for build quality and cleaner, louder sound compared to models like Q Acoustics 3030i.
Cons
- •The mid-range could be improved and is sometimes outperformed by higher-end speaker models.
- •Wood finish is technically patterned vinyl that, while visually appealing, may not satisfy those wanting real wood veneer.
- •Requires a sturdy stand for proper support due to solid and somewhat heavy construction.
- •Best sound experience often depends on pairing with a subwoofer and correct amplifier/receiver matching, so not always plug-and-play perfect.
- •While EQ can tune the sound nicely, out-of-the-box tuning is more neutral compared to traditional Klipsch’s typically brighter signature, which may disappoint fans expecting that.
