TLDR Review: iPhone 15 Pro Max
Verdict
The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, 1TB, Natural Titanium (Renewed Premium) offers a compelling option if you want a near-new high-end phone with excellent battery health and genuine Apple components — all at a significant discount. However, be prepared for potential risks like hidden hardware defects and a possibly frustrating support experience if things go wrong. If you’re comfortable with some technical troubleshooting and the chance of dealing with customer service hurdles, this renewed model can be a good value. Otherwise, for hassle-free peace of mind, consider a brand-new unit or explore Apple’s official refurbished program, which may provide a more reliable renewal process and warranty coverage.
- Top pro:
- Battery health is consistently reported at or near 100%, indicating excellent capacity and longevity for a renewed device.
- Top con:
- There is a significant risk of receiving a device with hidden defects, such as a non-functioning main camera lens that is not noticeable on first inspection.
Pros
- •Battery health is consistently reported at or near 100%, indicating excellent capacity and longevity for a renewed device.
- •Device appearance is often described as like-new or in perfect condition, with minimal to no visible scratches or wear.
- •Runs smoothly with excellent performance that meets expectations for the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.
- •Uses genuine Apple parts, ensuring authentic screen responsiveness and overall build quality.
- •Setup is generally straightforward, especially when transferring data from another iPhone.
- •Offers substantial savings compared to buying brand-new, making it an attractive option for a high-end phone.
- •Diagnostic tests confirm full functionality and no aftermarket parts are detected in most cases.
- •The phone feels comfortable and easy to use, with options for affordable screen protectors widely available.
- •Renewed Premium devices are typically only 1–2 generations old, keeping the experience fresh and current.
Cons
- •There is a significant risk of receiving a device with hidden defects, such as a non-functioning main camera lens that is not noticeable on first inspection.
- •Customer support and the return process for defective units can be complicated and time-consuming, sometimes requiring deactivation and removal of Apple ID before any resolution, causing loss of phone access.
- •Some reviewers found the “Renewed Premium” label does not always guarantee a thoroughly inspected product meeting high standards.
- •Setup may sometimes require advanced troubleshooting steps like DFU/DFS mode and computer restores, which might be daunting for less tech-savvy users.
- •Occasional freezing issues have been reported, although they do not appear widespread.
- •Despite a discount, the time and hassle dealing with defects and returns can negate the savings and lead to buyer frustration.
- •Customer support tends to be empathetic but lacks the authority to effectively solve core product problems quickly.
