TLDR Review: iPhone 14 Pro
Pros
- •Excellent audio quality and outdoor screen brightness, making media consumption enjoyable outdoors
- •Features Satellite SOS, adding a layer of emergency communication, especially for travelers or outdoor enthusiasts
- •Fast performance thanks to 8GB RAM and the A16 chip, ensuring smooth multitasking and responsiveness
- •Improved camera quality over previous models, although inconsistency in photo quality has been noted
- •Supports fast charging, reducing wait time when powering up
- •The phone's design and build feel premium and modern
Cons
- •Battery health has dropped in some units, leading to worse battery life; many reviews highlight this issue
- •Screen issues such as flickering, stopping altogether, or initial hardware defects like nounctional screens upon arrival
- •The Dynamic Island feature is seen as intrusive by some users, obstructing parts of the display
- •Battery performance drops significantly if you disable the 120Hz refresh rate, which impacts display quality
- •Software updates are often needed to fix screen flickering and freezing bugs
- •Some review mentions of hardware problems upon receipt, including noorking screens
- •Despite upgrades, some users find the phone's overall experience not worth the higher price compared to previous models or waiting for newer releases
Bottom Line
The iPhone 14 Pro in Deep Purple offers impressive audio, a robust performance, and emergency features, but it struggles with battery longevity and screen stability issues that many users find frustrating. If you're comfortable with potential hardware quirks and software updates, it can still be a worthwhile device, especially given its features. However, we suggest considering the iPhone 14 Plus or waiting for the iPhone 15 series if you want fewer bugs and better battery life.
