TLDR Review: HP 65XL and 65 Ink Cartridges 2-Pack
Verdict
If you want consistent, high-quality printing results with minimal hassle and reliability from a trusted brand, the HP 65XL High-Yield Black and 65 Tri-Color Ink Cartridges multipack is a solid choice—especially for users with compatible HP printers like the ENVY 5055 or DeskJet series. While ink costs remain on the higher side and the tri-color cartridge’s yield is modest, this multipack balances convenience and performance well. For those who prioritize cost savings or need longer-lasting color ink, keeping an eye out for sales or alternative cartridge options might be wise, but there’s a reason many stick with HP originals for seamless printer compatibility and sharp print quality.
- Top pro:
- Delivers high print quality, especially when used with original HP printers, producing vivid colors and crisp text.
- Top con:
- Ink cartridges are relatively expensive compared to third-party alternatives.
Pros

- •Genuine HP cartridges communicate seamlessly with printers, enabling easy alignment and hassle-free installation.
- •Quality ink in these cartridges far surpasses many generic or knock-off alternatives on the market.

- •High-yield black cartridge provides approximately 300 pages, reducing the frequency of replacements.
- •Installation is straightforward, ideal for users who want a simple, reliable ink replacement without fuss.
Cons
- •Ink cartridges are relatively expensive compared to third-party alternatives.
- •Printers designed for HP ink refuse to recognize non-HP cartridges, triggering repeated error messages if non-genuine ink is attempted.
- •The tri-color cartridge has a lower page yield (around 100 pages), so it may run out faster than the black cartridge.
- •Requires careful attention to compatibility with specific printer models to avoid mismatches.
- •Users seeking cheaper options or longer-lasting color ink might find the standard tri-color cartridge limiting.
