TLDR Review: Hiking Backpack 40L
Verdict
This 40L Waterproof Hiking Daypack is a solid choice for casual hikers and weekend travelers who want decent storage, organization, and comfort without breaking the bank. Its compact size and limited laptop protection make it less ideal for long expeditions or tech-heavy packing, but the sturdy build and rain cover add great value for outdoor use. If you need more room or better fitting straps for taller users, you might want to explore other hiking backpacks with expanded capacities and adjustable harness systems.
- Top pro:
- Great entry-level backpack, especially suitable for hiking beginners and casual users.
- Top con:
- Smaller and narrower than expected once packed, limiting usable space especially for longer trips or heavy packing.
Pros
- •Great entry-level backpack, especially suitable for hiking beginners and casual users.
- •Comfortable straps with good padding, chest, and waist support help reduce shoulder strain.
- •Generous 40L capacity fits well for 3-4 day trips, carrying items like lunch bags, rain gear, and multiple packing cubes.
- •Excellent organization with multiple inner and outer pockets, hooks, and compartments that open widely for easy access.
- •Durable construction featuring strong metal zippers with elastic pulls for ease of use and longevity.
- •Versatile usage: good for hiking, bike commuting, weekend trips, and even fitting under airplane seats when side pockets are tucked.
- •Stylish design with a subtle, vibrant purple option, and a softer fold that reshapes easily compared to other brands.
- •Includes a rain cover, enhancing its waterproof performance in outdoor conditions.
- •Top handle allows convenient hand-carrying.
- •Backpack stands upright on its own for easy packing and access.
Cons
- •Smaller and narrower than expected once packed, limiting usable space especially for longer trips or heavy packing.
- •Side pockets are too small to hold larger items like an iPhone, reducing their practicality.
- •Shoulder straps can be tricky to adjust and may not fit taller users comfortably.
- •Some minor zipper issues reported, though typically resolved quickly.
- •Provides only limited protection for laptops, requiring a separate softshell case for safe transport.
- •Slightly heavier than advertised, probably due to a stiff back support panel.
- •Smaller pockets inside are often not very functional or spacious.
- •Better suited for short hikes or light packing rather than intensive, multi-day trekking.
- •The backpack doesn't offer a clear size advantage over regular school backpacks or standard daypacks.
